Dr. Larry Wortzel

Dr. Larry M. Wortzel is Senior Fellow at the Potomac Foundation.

A retired U.S. Army colonel, he has worked on China and Asia since 1970, and served two tours of duty in China as a military attaché. His other military experience is in the infantry, counterintelligence, signals intelligence collection, and human-source intelligence collection. He is an Army strategist and was director of the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute. At present he is an adjunct research professor at the Army War College.

From 1999 to 2005, Dr. Wortzel was Asian studies director and vice president for foreign policy and defense studies at The Heritage Foundation.

Since 2001, he has served as a commissioner on the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. He is the author or editor of ten books on China as well as a number of journal articles and book chapters.
