Dr. Joseph Braddock

Dr. Joseph V. Braddock is Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Potomac Foundation, which he co-founded with Drs. Bernard J. Dunn and Daniel F. McDonald in 1988.
Dr. Braddock is a distinguished nuclear physicist, business executive and philanthropist recognized for his contributions in national security, health and information technology fields.
Dr. Braddock started his career as a professor at Fordham University and later lectured at Iona College.
In 1959, he co-founded BDM International, a technology-based professional services firm. In 1988 BDM was acquired by Ford Motor Company and reacquired back in 1991 in partnership with the Carlyle Group. In 2000, it was integrated into Northrop Grumman, having grown to over 10,000 employees globally. Dr. Braddock retired from BDM in 1998.
Dr. Braddock serves on Task Forces and Advisory Boards for the Secretary of Defense and the Army Secretary’s Science Board (Chair and Vice Chair, 2000-2004). He is a Trustee of the Aztec Foundation and a board member of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Dr. Braddock has served on the Defense Science Board, National Security Agency Scientific Advisory Board, Defense Threat Reduction Agency Advisory Committee, Defense Nuclear Agency Scientific Advisory Group on Effects, and the Sandia National Laboratories National Security Advisory Panel (Chair and Co-Chair).In addition, he has served on governance boards of the National Defense Industrial Association, St. Peter’s Preparatory School (NJ), INOVA Hospital System of Northern Virginia and Alexandria Hospital.
Dr. Braddock is a member of the American Physical Society and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
Dr. Braddock is a recipient of the Eugene G. Fubini Award for Civilian Advisory Contributions to the Secretary of Defense; the Defense Nuclear Agency Exceptional Public Service Medal; Association of the US Army Distinguished Service Award; and the Navigator Award.
